Deception
Scripture references taken from the online parallel bible, KJV, NIV and NLT
Proverbs 11: 18
The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.
Deception
Are you paying attention to a deceiving spirit?
Deception is strategic and manipulative behavior. It's cunning, dangerous, falsehood, lying, it's denying that Jesus is the Christ. Our world is filled with liars and thieves who seek to
to defraud us. satan is subtle, prideful and always scheming. His power is in the lie and when his lie is exposed by the Word of God, his plans are checked, frustrated, confused
and stopped. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of Truth, is come he will guide you into all truth; for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak;
and he will show you things to come. (John 16: 13)
Deception can take many forms. To deceive means to cause to believe what is not true: mislead 2. To ensnare 3. To give a false impression.
a. To mislead..... means to give false or misleading information to 2. to lead or guide in the wrong direction.
b. To betray.......means to give aid or information to an enemy of: 2. to deliver into the hands of an enemy in violation of a trust or allegiance.
c. Omit.....means to fail to include or mention; leave out 2. To pass over; neglect
d. self-deception....the act or an instance of deceiving oneself, esp. as to the true nature of one's feelings or motives.
Are you under a spell? Have you been hypnotized and controlled? What have you been programmed to believe? What is lurking right under your nose? Is your own faith and
trusting in God being used against you? What about empty and deceptive promises. Is it possible that maybe your pastors, leaders, your spouse and children could be deceiving you!
For a while deception can go undetected. Beneath the charm, fast-talking, being friendly, and sounding honest lies the predator, the witch, the stalker, imposter, the lapdog.....ready to attack.
Matthew 7: 15.....Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
Psalm 120: 2....Deliver my soul, O Lord from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.
Jeremiah 17: 9......The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked who can know it?
I Timothy 4: 1-2......Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.
Matthew 7: 15-22.....Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.....You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit, but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. .....A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. ...Every tree that brings not forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire. ...Therefore by their fruits you shall know them.
21v. Not everyone that says unto me. Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that does the will of my Father who is in heaven. ....Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? And in your name have cast out demons? And in your name done many wonderful works?. ....And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.
Sometimes we will know we are doing wrong and keep doing it, deceiving ourselves into....digging a deeper hole. Blinded by pride, greed, jealousy, envy, arrogance and poor
decisions. What lies are you telling yourself and are you living a lie? Stop being an enabler of wrong doing. There is a difference between helping and enabling bad,
negative or addictive behavior.
Are you deceiving yourself?
a. Are you happy with your business, career or ministry? or is it a lie?
b. Are you really busy? or is it an excuse not to take time to put a spending plan together, or work on your business plan.
c. Why are you on Facebook and other social sites for long hours? Are you trying to escape from something or cover up something? Are you depressed?
A deceiving spirit.... giving you an idea or thought that's contrary to God's Word as if they are true, wanting your conscience (an act of the mind, a sense of right or wrong
or moral awareness) seared (harden...burned).....doctrines of demons....teachings and beliefs that are opposed to God's truth.....falling away from the faith.
2 Corinthians 2: 11....Lest satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
You have been deputized (appointed and empowered as deputy) by the Lord Jesus Christ....commissioned and assigned to carry out his will and take charge of the
situation. As a deputy....stay in shape....to maintain your deliverance.
· 1. You have been instructed to put on the whole armor of God.
Ephesians 6: 10-18. We can fight back against satan’s lies
And accusations. Our weapon is the truth of God’s Word. God has given us the most powerful weapon: the armor of God for protection.
2. Walk in love (love protects): I Cor. 13
It restores, empowers, defends, patient, kind suffereth long and envieth not.
There are many deceivers that wants to keep you confused and frustrated….but God’s word is your authority.
2 Timothy 2: 15 Study to show yourself approved of God a
Workman ( a craftsman, an artisan, a skilled worker that needed not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.
II John 1: 5-7 (NLV)......I am writing to remind you, dear friends, that we should love one another. This is not a new commandment, but one we have had from the beginning....Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us, to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning.
I say this because many deceivers have gone out into the world. They deny that Jesus Christ came in a real body. Such a person is a deceiver and an anti-Christ.
But...
Hebrews 12: 2 We look to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. He originates, composes, and orchestrates events in our lives. God is a finisher. He completes the job in refinement, smoothness and polishes it well.
· You have been instructed to put on the whole armor of God.
Ephesians 6: 10-18. We can fight back against satan’s lies
And accusations. Our weapon is the truth of God’s Word. God has given us the most powerful weapon: the armor of God for protection.
· Trust God: I know…easier said, than actually doing it. When you’re overwhelmed can’t see your way, irritated, depressed and you’ve been to lie to….What actions should
I take or not. Can you trust what you see? Prov. 3: 5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to him he will make
Your paths straight.
· Godly character: character is the combination of qualities or features that distinguishes one person, group, or thing from another. It’s who you really are and how you choose to respond to a situation.
The spiritual fruit of a godly character is in Galatians 5: 22- 23....... (NLV)...But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
Galatians 5: 7-10 (NLV)....You were running the race so well. Who has held you back from following the truth? It certainly isn’t God, for he is the one who called you to freedom. This false teaching is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough!....I am trusting the Lord to keep you from believing false teachings. God will judge that person, whoever he is, who has been confusing you.
The fruit may not always be easily seen in us, because we are not perfect. But we do have a responsibility to bear fruit.
· Forgiveness: to release a person from punishment…..Mark 11: 25 (NIV) and Col. 3: 13
But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too'.
Colossians 3: 13.......Make allowance for each other other's faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
The Lord knows our weakness and strengths and our failures and He knows that sometimes we may do or say something stupid, but it’s not because we don’t love Him or our brothers and sisters. We need God’s grace and we need to extend the same mercy to others and not walk in unforgiveness. We are seriously deceived if we think that we our walking in God’s forgiveness and yet hold a grudge, carry resentment, bitterness and offense towards another person. Stop punishing people over and over again in your mind for the pain they have caused. Forgive God, yourself and others.
I John 4: 1-3
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try (test) the spirits, whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God.....And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God....And this is the spirit of anti-Christ, where of ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is in the world.
Keep your tanks (your spirit) filled....meditating on the Word of God, praying, fasting and worshiping the Lord.
Recognize the value of time and redeem it. Stay focus, organize, prioritize, set goals, and learn to say 'no' when appropriate. Track and evaluate your progress. Proverbs 16: 3....Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed..
What we believe and place our trust in will certainly determine our destiny. God will strengthen you as you rely on Him.
God has given you power to make arrests. To carry out duties in a variety of ways. To resist the enemy and anything contrary to His word.
You are to issue citations and give warnings. Let the enemy know that this is your jurisdiction (You have the right to rule, take dominion and exercise
Authority when necessary. We need people around us with the right attitude, not ‘yes men and women’ that will help with being accountable and
Not yield to deception.
Psalm 32: 2....Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.
Psalm 1: 1....Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers.
****Pray......
If there is anyone that has backslidden: going back to your old sinful ways. It’s possible for you to get off track....Repent and ask God for forgiveness. He will reach way down to pick you up.
It you would like to accept Jesus as Lord, I invite you to come.....God's arms are open...tell Him... Lord I know I'm a sinner (you are confessing this to Him) come into my heart and fill me with the power of your Spirit.
We welcome you to the family of God.
